he is awesome. I've met him.

Do you just like him better or are there other reasons? I know very little about the actual people from Monty Python, I'm just familiar with the skits/movies.

Cleese is a Terfy asshole, basically.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-20 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
+1 and also a lot of BTS stuff makes him seem like kind of a dick

(Anonymous) 2024-03-20 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
BTS? I'm not up on my TLAs, sorry.

Behind the scenes

OIC, TYVM.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-20 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

Fuck John Cleese.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-20 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Eric Idle was always my favorite in sketches, but I can't argue with you there.

As a performer, I think Graham Chapman was by far the greatest. Unbelievably fucking funny actor.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-21 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Graham Chapman is hard to beat.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-26 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yas, if Graham hadn't died he'd be #1 for sure. Also, he came out in 1972! Hero.

He is surely the most beloved Python (even among three other Pythons) so that's something. But you are absolutely right.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-21 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry. "Among the other Pythons." Damned autocorrect

I always liked Michael Palin. He seems like such a sweet guy, and I enjoyed his travel documentaries as well. What a great life to be able to live - solid marriage, a career as a famous comedian, then going on to fulfill another lifelong dream about traveling the world. I envy that so much.

I had insomnia a while back and when I woke up at night, I took to reading Palin's diaries from the Python years. I would read one month in the life of Palin, knowing the show worked, his career took off, his marriage flourished and his kids grew up to be fine. Then I would be soothed and happy and go to sleep... to have very silly dreams.

I don't think Cleese is the most loved, just the most prominent, because he keeps marrying much younger women, being shocked!!! that they married him for his money rather than his lovely personality, and having to do performances/talkshows/etc. for money when they get divorced. He's on his fifth or sixth wife by now, I think.

I think Palin or Terry Jones are/were the most loved, though Eric Idle and Graham Chapman are my favourites.

I could have done without the boobs scene in Terry Jones' Crusades doco, if I'm honest.
