Sorry, I don’t use tumblr. I’m only going by personal experience as someone in the community. And yeah, it’s pretty gross to be Little Miss Suburbanite’s Cause of the Month.

And of course, one community represents every kind of queer community ever.
something something 'your experience is not universal'.

My community experiences are in four countries, so try again. No one, and I mean absolutely not one of the thousands of people I’ve met at London Pride, Edinburgh Pride, SD Pride, or Heidelberg Pride used neopronouns. But I’ve met A LOT of wealthy white American women in their twenties who insist on using them for other people despite being asked not to. and I’ve met a lot more people who have complained about the same thing. So maybe others are using them and good for them! My original statement was “almost exclusively” and you decided I said exclusively and even then only as an afterthought because you were more upset at the dismissal of wealthy white American girls.

So I'm getting from your comment is that you live in the UK... but you've met lots of American women who insist on using neopronouns for people who have asked them not to.

...are these women you're talking about women you've "met" in fandoms online where they call male actors and singers any pronoun but "he"?

I live in America. I’ve also lived in the UK, Germany, and Denmark. And I’ve met worse people than bored rich white girls who think they need to save others, but it doesn’t make me like them more.

Damn, you sound like an unpleasant person. Glad I never had to meet you in my local community. Hope you have a nice life doing whatever for the rest of your life.

Why? I’m genuinely curious. Because as I pointed out, of course I’d use neopronouns for someone if that is what they chose. I don’t happen to have ever met anyone like that though. I have met a lot of young rich white American girls who choose to disregard other people’s identity and instead use neopronouns. Pretending neopronouns are common or even commonly accepted is ridiculous because they very obviously are not. Perhaps that will change. I doubt it though because the current crops are all tainted either by terfs or white hats and I think it will be another few tries before there are neopronouns that communities will embrace on a large scale.

Oh, your sunny personality shining through the comments is just too much for little ol' me.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-23 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, got it. You’re a rich white American girl. I should have guessed since you didn’t have anything to add to the discourse.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-23 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
How adorable, you couldn't be more wrong. And I still happy that I don't have to ever deal with you since I'm in a community that you've decided doesn't exist.

Also your obsession with rich white American girls is weird. Are you James Somerton?

(Anonymous) 2024-03-23 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
I wish you knew how you come across to others.

Sometimes I wish we could weaponize self-awareness (think the POV gun from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie).

Just setting it off at CPAC would be hilarious.
