The ABO fic in the fandom is kind of fascinating, actually.

Like, you can often tell if a fic was written after ABO fic as we now know it took off, even if it's set in canon. It's as if just the association with wolves and the terminology of alpha/omega already leads to unconscious influences from ABO dynamics and it's so interesting.

I remember being so annoyed when abo came to teen wolf fandom because those words had canon definitions and the fic writers muddied it all up. I was searching for omega derek and was not prepared for omegaverse nonsense!

Same. I always stayed on the fringes of the fandom anyway, and I’d already stopped watching the show because I only liked the earlier stuff (I think first two seasons maybe?) but I noped out of even reading fic once omegaverse took over. That was my last time in a large, active fandom and I still kinda miss the good stuff from that.

I'm the anon who's now reading TW fic without having seen the show. It's interesting that you stopped around season two; everything I've heard, season three is regarded as the best one, with 3b being the very best.

Which is fascinating to me as an outsider, as most of the really popular fics seem to have been written pre-s3. I haven't seen nearly as much post-s3 as I would have expected from what I know of the story.
