This secret really hits hard. I remember, once, seeing something in someone's profile on Fanfiction.net. They'd died in an automobile accident, and their brother had posted of their passing in their profile.

Hon, please make sure you tell someone who can tell your fandom friends, later. They'll worry about you, and it's better that they know. Fandom friends are still your friends, you know. I'm sure they'd want to be there for you every step of the way.

I loved this fic someone wrote, but I put off reviewing it until a year or two later. (lol procrastinator.) I finally went to the author's profile to leave a review, and they had died two days beforehand of pneumonia. The family had posted a notice about this the day afterward. I didn't even know this person but I felt terrible, and sad.

I think you should tell your fandom friends. Personally, I'm closer to my fandom friends than any friends I have in real life, and I would be just as devastated to lose them as I would a friend in real life. Also, my friend Raja fell off the face of the internet for a few months, scaring me and most of her friends, wondering if she was okay. Fortunately she returned and assured us she was okay yesterday, but we were all really worried. If she had never reappeared, we would always have been worried, and constantly sending her alarmed emails.
