If you can't consume a specific piece of media because you HAVE to know what's inside before you start, then the onus is on you to seek what you want elsewhere.

That's me. I'm a fandom old who has gotten too tired of shows that don't have an actual story to tell. They end up meandering and forgetting their own plots/characterization and I can't be bothered to put any effort into them anymore until I know it's going to be worth it. I wait until whatever it is is over so I can get spoilers on what's in it and how it ends. I miss out on early fandoms, but it's a fair price.

eh, not the same. wanting to know something doesn't suck is not the same as wanting to know if it has...well, I tried to come up with a list that wasn't covered by basic MPAA warnings and I'm just lost too. does the horror movie talk about death and maybe gross stuff? of course it does! is this more like, people need to know if it has clowns in it or mentions the color blue bc that's a trigger?? do they not know how to go to doesthedogdie dot com? what is even happening in real life anymore? I need to go outside.

AYRT

Sort of the same. I've been currently waiting on IWtV to finish so I'll know if I want to watch it. Then I heard it had cheating in it. Off my list now. Cheating is a hard no for me, doesn't matter how it ends.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-23 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That's so silly.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Why is it silly?

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Because it's the germ of the idea that leads to people saying it's okay to murder someone for adultery.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Damn, you went hard on that “slippery slope”

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Slippery slope" is usually something about how X leads to Y. But in this case, X is leading to X.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
No... it's not. "I don't like story lines that have cheating in them" /= murder.

If you honestly think that, then you need professional help.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
??????

Might as well never have any thoughts ever then. Go be slime in the ocean.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
That's a bit extreme. Most thoughts don't lead to murder.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Neither does not liking to watch story lines involving cheating.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
People can have different hard-limits anon.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-24 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
No it's not. I don't care about characters cheating, but I don't want to watch things with prison rape or Alzheimer's in it. People have squicks and that's ok.

+1000

(someone else who doesn't want to watch or read anything with prison rape or dementia in it)
