If it is in the trailer, it is not a spoiler. It is information you are supposed to know going in, they want you knowing it. You can't get the full experience without it. Same with chapter titles and those little chapter summaries in books.

Oh wow, I strongly disagree with this. Unless it's a specific artistic choice by the director to include the trailer into the story, a movie/show/book should never require to have seen the trailer/read the summary. If you need that information, the movie/show/book failed at part of its job.

Not to mention that trailers and summaries are often not even made by the original creator but by a marketing team.

I'd tend to agree with this.

...I'm still bitter people dogpiled me for "spoiling" Sid's appearance in Toy Story 3 on Facebook in 2010 even though that, while not in the trailer, is truly a blink and you'll miss it Easter egg.

I disagree, trailers are most often not even created by the studios who make the movies or shows, and sometimes be inaccurate or have scenes that will not show up in the final product.

Agreed. If it's publicized before the thing is even officially released, it isn't a spoiler.
