I feel like this is a "Teehee look at me, my kidfic is not like other kidfic!" and then the scenario you describe is pretty much... like cutesy kidfic with cutesy gross out factor. Not that much of a rebellion, really.

Idk. The impression I got was that yeah, they're writing fic with a kid in it because it's canon for their fandom, but their take on it is ~*~different~*~.
