So why bother posting? Whould you post if you get no kudos?

DA

can't speak for AYRT, but whenever I did post fic, it was of course, primarily written because it was something I wanted to see/had in my head, and posted because I figured I can't be the only person looking for something like what I just wrote, so hopefully that person finds it in what I've written. Doesn't matter if they leave kudos, a comment, or nothing at all, or they find it fifteen years from now, I'm glad someone else found and (hopefully) enjoyed what I too had been looking for.

So, I write it for me, post it for whoever is looking for what I'm looking for too. And because I want to share!

Lurkers are grateful for the fic writers like you, keep up the good work. ^^
I was a lurker when I started reading fic.

AYRT
Anon above is spot on! I post because someone else might like it. I’d still posts even if I didn’t get kudos.

I’ve usually been in smaller fandoms, so there isn’t a lot of fic and I enjoy providing whatever I can for current and future fans. In some fandoms, mine are the only fics with certain pairings or tropes. Helping tiny fandoms grow feels good and hopefully helps encourage other fans to contribute whatever they write, too.

I post fic because why not?

That's literally why I post, because I can. That's it. Any attention I do get is nice but I don't require it to create and it won't make me create more. I haven't written any fic in a year, nothing has inspired me, but I still get comments/kudos on fic for the fandoms I've written in. None of those comments/kudos are going to make me go back and write for those fandoms however because my brain is done creatively with them.
