Re: How early is too early to go to bed?

In general, I'd say it's never too early, never too late. It's usually a question of getting too much or too little.

If you require a certain amount of sleep to accomplish tasks in the day ahead of you, then you at least want to get 6-8 hours of sleep. So going to sleep like 5 hours before you need to get up wouldn't be adequate for you to function, much less do much else.

On the flip side, getting in excess of 9 hours a night when there's no need for physical recovery isn't great for your health either.

So say that you had to get up at 6 AM for work/school/whatever your morning routine is... I wouldn't go to bed earlier than 9 PM, and I would try really really hard not to go to bed after 11 PM.

Depression is a horrible bitch and complicates things though. I'm sorry you're going through this.
