I think Secret OP isn't taking into account that the hero fantasy is about being special. It's OK to want to feel special and ponder upon one's fantastical superpowers.

IMO I'd rather creativity flourish in fandom than be all, "let's be real about this, no one would be special". It reminds me a lot of the types of fans who point out everything "wrong" in a film/show. "They would actually die from loss of oxygen if they flew up that high, plothole-DING!"

Dunno. I think the OP raises an interesting point (albeit indirectly). Aside from superpowers, how else could someone be special in these worlds? Heroes almost answered that question but fell short.
