No, no. I get you OP because those scenes are fucking hot just uh... not intended to be romantic or good? Lmao. It's a confusing mix of emotions xD, and I'd never change the show for what it was, but I get you on wanting something with the boob-swords where it's happy instead.

At the very least, I don't think any fan or the show's writers themselves would argue that the sword-pulling animation is really cool-looking.

You might like the manga Shitsurakuen. It has a very Utena-like protagonist who fights to protect lots of girls who are actually happy to have her do it, and one girl in particular could be considered the main "princess" who's interested in her. There is the caveat that the reason for all this is that their school is ruled by cartoonishly misogynistic boys and that's a whole thing, but if you don't mind that, check it out.
