I don't think neurotypicals understand just how important canonicity and backstory is to people who are neurodivergent. That shit matters to us. Saying just ignore this massive change in backstory, or pick and choose the bits you want, or "the old stuff is always there", isn't always something easily achievable for us.

I don't think that is a neurotypical or neurodivergent thing? Some folks just don't care about how fiction works, while others do.

Yeah, and it's also just a thing you sort of have to learn to accept when you have long-running canons that have been worked on by multiple writers/production teams.

Oh GOD not everything is a ~omg so neurodivergent, neurotypicals could NEVER~ issue. I say this as a neurodivergent person. Anyone, ND or not, who gives a bit of a shit about a story/fictional universe will be annoyed, sometimes even to the point of being distressed about major changes/asspulls etc. especially if big parts of fandom adopt the changes into their general canon.

Not everything is because you are neurodivergent. Sometimes people in general care about different things. This is one of thise cases.

That sounds perilously close to using neurodivergency to justify being an asshole.
