As a child of maybe 5 all the way up to age 11, I had a weird paranoia that I was constantly being watched by a gang of pirates who were judging me and everything I did. I don't know why it was pirates.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring came out just after I turned 11, and I became OBSESSED. Very very slowly, the voices and faces of the pirates got overwhelmed by the Fellowship, who were a lot more positive - I guess because kid!me couldn't imagine them being mean.

All of that faded a long time ago, but I found my old posters recently and felt kind of nostalgic :)
