Oh, gonna pick up heat for this one. I can see why it is secret.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-21 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I am confused, how did they ruin it?

(Anonymous) 2024-04-21 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
If you don't like Doctor Who canon, just ignore it and substitute your own.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-21 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
A show is more than just a performance. Canon matters.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-21 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I personally feel that canon doesn't matter in general.

But it ESPECIALLY doesn't matter in Doctor Who.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT but yeah canon in Doctor Who is like... wibbly wobbly...

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Of course canon matters. Canon is the thing that draws us all to a work to begin with, and that gives us an agreed-upon starting point for developing fandom.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
And in Doctor Who it changes every three years. The Doctor can regenerate. The Doctor can only regenerate 12 times. The Doctor gets extra regenerations. The Doctor actually had multiple regenerations before the first series. Hell, recently it turns out The Doctor can split into two totally different people when he regenerates.

Canon in Doctor Who is like canon in DC or Marvel comics. It's full of retcons and redos. Canon contradicts itself, even before you get into the books and audio plays. The agreed upon starting point in this fandom is "this person from another planet has a time machine and a friend to travel with" and everything else is fluid.

What didn’t you like about it?

Wait, What? Neither were remotely involved, RTD was the one in charge of the 60th specials. This has to be a troll secret, right?

(Anonymous) 2024-04-21 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose it's possible they think Chibnall's canon changes influenced the specials somehow?

That's a weird take, but even if, how would Moffat be involved?

(Anonymous) 2024-04-21 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair question.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
NEW THEORY!

Moffat and Chibnall ruined the show -> the show was going broke -> Disney bought the show -> Disney buying the show ruined the specials

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao great secret. I'm pissed at Moffat and Chibnall for making the Tenth Doctor era suck. How dare they.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Can the brits get another show. Can the english just watch something from across the pond and shut up forever.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
You're bad enough at this that I wonder if you're a partially-trained AI.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, they definitely only have the one show and the British are the only ones who watch it. Any another show that's gotten notice and is purported to be British is totally fake news and any supposed fans from other countries are just paid actors.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for confirming, nonnie!

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
And there never was a sitcom without bay windows.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-22 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
We do, but I guess if you're from somewhere like America and only know about the shows that got popular outside of the UK, then its unsurprising that you wouldn't know that.
