Sadly, I can understand this feeling.

I'm an atheist, but the world seems so very fucked up right now, I can't help but hope and wish there is a next life that is much better than what exists in here. Hell, it's to the point I'd even accept Purgatory if it meant things would improve.

I've been saying the Isekai genre is as much of a reflection of the spirit of the times as our visions of afterlives were and are for religions. As it becomes more common, to the point even cottagecore Isekai gains momentum, I think it really speaks about everyone's fears and despair as a whole.
