I feel like this one should have a warning.

Also religion is based on this principle.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Genuinely have no idea why you think this needs a warning?

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
self inflicted death on self.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
But that isn't what it is? Unless you have a different interpretation....

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It is. OP wants to die and go to another world. This's why China bans Isekai btw. So no one is tempted to discard their life believing in reincarnation.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Shouldn't they ban most religions then as they often have a rewarding afterlife like Heaven?

Yeah, I'm sure that why China banned it. Nothing to do with them being a totalitarian country that hates anything even vaguely subversive.

Do you mean suicide? I am so confused.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
yes. Truck-kun is a popular Isekai trope. In the first chapter a character is run over by a truck, die, and get Isekaed to another world.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you're getting at OP. You like a truck? Do you want to be hit by a truck? You want to fuck a truck? I am confused, a little concerned, and mostly lost.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
From Wiki: Truck-kun is an Internet meme that refers to a common trope used in the isekai genre of anime and manga, in which characters are transported to other worlds.

nayrt

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
“transported to other worlds” by being hit by a truck… right?

(Or otherwise killed so they are “reincarnated” in a new world)

Re: nayrt

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Many of the isekai fic I see are "modern person gets transported into the body of Joffrey Baratheon before GoT starts, WHAT WILL HE DO?"

New anon here, I totally thought OP meant truck fucking or trucks fucking. This secret is a wild ride.

Re: nayrt

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.
It's mostly seen in Korea and Japanese stories. Western stories tend to feature an actual travel or something like Life on Mars aka ***magic***.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-25 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahhhhh, okay. That’s making more sense to me now, so OP wants to be transported to another world, which: fair.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-26 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
*by being killed in this world* seems like important context

(Anonymous) 2024-04-26 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
It is really death if you are being transported into another world?

(no subject)

(Anonymous) - 2024-04-26 08:07 (UTC) - Expand

(Anonymous) 2024-04-26 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't consider it death if they get transported to another world where they continue to, you know, experience existence. I also personally wouldn't consider it suicidal ideation if being transported to another world is part and parcel of the fantasy. But I am an atheist, so ceasing to exist is inherent to suicidal ideation for me. I guess some religious people may feel differently.

Still feels like a stretch to say this should have a warning, though.

I've been feeling almost exactly the same honestly. Most of the time, I don't think its really about feeling suicidal, but more so wishing you could just fall into a pocket of time and then come back once everything is better.

I don't want to die, I just want a new life.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-26 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
OP, I really do hope things get better for you (for the whole world, honestly). And I hope you find something that gives you hope, and gives you new life (not involving truck-kun or exiting this realm of life).

(Anonymous) 2024-04-26 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, I can understand this feeling.

I'm an atheist, but the world seems so very fucked up right now, I can't help but hope and wish there is a next life that is much better than what exists in here. Hell, it's to the point I'd even accept Purgatory if it meant things would improve.

I've been saying the Isekai genre is as much of a reflection of the spirit of the times as our visions of afterlives were and are for religions. As it becomes more common, to the point even cottagecore Isekai gains momentum, I think it really speaks about everyone's fears and despair as a whole.

Suicide?
