Oh boy yes.

When I was writing 'Titanic' fic in the late '90s? Definitely kept that under the rug.

Didn't let people know how insane I was about 'Dark Angel.' In fact, sometimes I publicly pretended to hate it in order to throw people off the scent.

Ain't nobody know that I shipped Booker/Elizabeth. And ain't nobody ever going to.

I was so into Dark Angel but never really thought to check out the fandom. It is actually a show I've been thinking about recently and wondering about how it would hold up to a rewatch!

The fandom was super fun during the first season! Lots of great fansites, with a lively writing community. I made some wonderful friends during that time.

During the second season, however, the ship war that developed between Max/Alec and Max/Logan fans cast a bit of a pall over everything. Rival sites sprung up, and when their members met on neutral ground, they were not shy about expressing their hatred for one another (and for either Michael Weatherly or Jensen Ackles, depending which side they were on. Oddly, a vocal contingent of Max/Alec shippers also hated Jessica Alba, and mocked her for being troublingly thin).

On the positive side, a bunch of folks who got sick of the in-fighting eventually created a multishipper hang-out called The Broken World. Fabulous place, that. I loved the people there.
