Based on 1 - What's the fic that was the hardest for you to recover?

Links are welcome. Was it worth the hassle?
Mine was probably a SGA fic that I lost and wanted to reread. I posted on LJ fic finder comm and someone reqognized my description right away!

The hardest? Probably anything I had to go to the Internet Archive for. I've been lucky, but some fic remains forever lost.

Well, there is one Harry Potter fic from years ago I haven't been able to recover. It starts out with the first couple chapters with Harry captured by Voldemort. First chapter just crucius curse, Harry somehow figures out a way to not feel that, so the next chapter is physical torture including binding. Harry gets rescued but is really far gone, Fawkes bonds with him and makes him part phoenix.

At one point I had downloaded a physical copy. But I lost it. And the fic doesn't exist anymore.

It was an old Harry/Draco fic where they and Ron become members of parliament (the muggle British parliament) that's only up on a Internet Archive of the original writer's livejournal, I think.

It was.... good, I guess, to go back and reread it because it scratched an itch and I'd still be wondering about it if I hadn't. But it was much more Deep-England conservative and, frankly, much more politically deranged than I remembered it being.

There was this White Collar fic where Neal had OCD and he hid it really well until there was some case or incident where he was triggered and Peter figured it out and talked him through a panic attack...or something. Pretty sire it was on LJ but I've never been able to find it.

I did manage to track down an old Gundam Wing fic after years of failure and it was a satisfying re-read!

There is an xmen first class fic I read on a comment fic comm that I will never find again. It was short and I loved it. I've looked everywhere.

there was a sherlock holmes fic on sacrilege! back in the late 90s called 'a veritable bear' that I ADORED and someone deleted it from the archive. I was never able to find it ever again, even with the wayback machine. it had one of my favorite lines in a fic ever in it and it's just ...gone.

there was also a highlander fic on a person's personal Web page from around the same time. I've even contacted the author on a03 recently when she turned up there posting old fic and she said she'd check to see if she still had it but didn't know if she did and nothing more was ever said about it, sadface forever...

I have a few downloaded fucs from Sacrilege too.
Highlander archive disappearing is such a pity. I don't have a favorite story imprinted on me but a lot of long historical fics were there.

I got scarily OBSESSED with an Attack on Titan AU Eren/Levi fic. It was one of those 'Character A has internalized homophobia because of Christianity and character B rocks his entire world view' - but actually done really well. I was absolutely invested in the story when the last update ended on a really big cliffhanger. I was going insane and desperately wanted to know what happened in the next chapter. But the author never updated again and deleted the fic years later.
I can't even remember what the cliffhanger was because I had to stop rereading it and put it out of my mind just to be normal again lol.
