Eh, I think it's fine. About half the songs in existence have at least one line I could say was clumsily written if I stripped the music and just took it at surface value. This song is my least favorite on the new album, so I'm not gonna defend it that hard, but calling it incoherent is a stretch. Also, while saying, "I think the lyrics are bad on a craft level," would be a fair statement, you stating it like a fact just because it's your perspective? Nah, miss me with that self-congratulatory, arbiter-of-good-art nonsense.

…but the lyrics are bad on a craft level. Objectively. Maybe the way she sings them smoothes out the clunkiness and the music helps gloss over the fact that she’s ascribing traits to a hologram that can’t exist, but it doesn’t change the fact that the lyrics are objectively bad.

I just really hope you get your panties in a twist about the tons of other atrociously bad lyrics by other artists. Because that single-track hate boner you are nurturing doesn't seem very healthy.

Single track? I think I should just make a DW account at this point because I’m not the comment OP. I’m just one of at least two different anons who will call someone out for falsely claiming that something subjectively good is objectively good, or in this case someone making some bullshit claim that something isn’t objectively bad when obviously it is.

Anyone can enjoy anything. Tastes are subjective. But it’s idiot fans like AIRT that piss me off. I’m not sure if they’re stupid or if they’re just delusional as fuck but I’ll never stop calling them out for bullshit claims.

I'm amused by the idea that it's possible to call something objectively good when it's actually subjectively good, but not that it's possible to call something objectively bad when it's subjectively bad.

Oh, its Things I Personally Dislike Are Objectively Bad Anon.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-29 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, I’m the other Subjective vs Objective Callout Anon. Because I actually know the difference, unlike AIRT.

I mean, yeah, they kind of are. Just seems like she's throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, but I guess she's trying?

Honestly there’s nothing wrong with that. It just annoys me no end when fans of anyone or anything claim that something that is objectively bad is in fact objectively good.
