I have been single most of my life, mostly because I'm awkward and shy and don't put myself out there to meet anyone. But I also recognize that media has given me unrealistic expectations of what love and romance is, and I use those unrealistic expectations as an excuse and to make myself feel better about being single and alone. Secret because that is just pathetic.

Feeling lonely about being single and alone does not make someone an incel. It just makes them a normal person.

What makes someone an incel is an attitude of entitlement and being unfairly deprived of a relationship. There is nothing like that in OP's post.
