Regardless of what certain corners of thought-crime social media might want you to believe, nothing that begins and ends with "daydream" is harmful... or even parasocial, really, assuming it's all just a cute fantasy in your head and not you blasting these wishes all over their Instagram or Twitter account.

It's not harmful unless it's impinging too much in your life (then that's harmful to you and maybe others in your life) or you're sharing it with someone who really doesn't want to hear it and making them uncomfortable. And unless you either believe that you really have a relationship with the actor because of these daydreams or actually have some sort of interaction with the actor and have communicated these daydreams to them, daydreaming, in and of itself, is not parasocial.

Dude, don't we all do something like this? It's no big. It's fun to imagine you not only recognize the extraordinary in someone, but are able to help everyone see that. Why not? Sounds like a nice little daydream that gives your brain a break.

Oh, hun. I wrote a whole ass fic detailing how I'd make my fave a not-flop… It was so poorly written, that it mainly persisted of wild fave + Mary Sue sex with a little career string pulling that was so subtle, it finished when I got bored and before the Fave’s actual not-flop period truly started.

Unrelated to TSwift but I've seen people conflate their identity with the music they listen to. I had a friend who used to like Lady Gaga but in 2016, the friend became a Trump supporter and suddenly hated any artist who opposed Trump and won't listen to their music. So pretty much all the music she used to like she can't listen to anymore. It's insane.

I don't think you're wrong about her as a person, and unlike you I find her pretty mediocre as a musician, but I do feel like the amount of vitriol she gets is completely disproportionate. Can't people just... Be normal about her? It gets tiring.

A comparison comes to mind. Swift has songs that are about her life, and songs that clearly aren’t about her life. The Living Tombstone also has songs that are about his life, and songs that aren’t about his life. Every time Swift comes out with a new song, people assume it MUST be about her life and criticize her for lying because her life wasn’t really like that. People don’t make that assumption with The Living Tombstone, and it feels like an arbitrary difference.

I think she can be immature, petty, and self-involved—and I also have a high opinion of her as a person. I guess I don't weight consistent maturity and selflessness as the end-all-be-all of what makes a person good or admirable. There is a point where immaturity and selfishness become an issue for me, but Taylor definitely hasn't reached that point.

I also think that she comes across as distinctly more immature, petty, and self-involved than she actually is, because our primary exposure to her is through her music. And her music is where she expresses her messiest feelings, without worrying too much about whether she's being suitably mature, magnanimous, or objective.

When you look at her behavior outside of her music, she's professional to a fault. She has exceptional business savvy and the level-headedness to use it. She donates to progressive and humanitarian causes, gives uncommonly large bonuses to her crew, does all sorts of kind things for her fans. She is well-spoken in interviews, and very rarely messy on social media, and on the rare occasion where she has misstepped on social media, she's made a point of apologizing and making amends.

I definitely agree that you can like her music and not her as a person, and that's perfectly valid.

That's honestly clever. Even if it's a retcon, acknowledge it out of universe, but mention that the Imperium is so thoroughly fucked up in its registries and knowledge that they would be genuinely stupid enough to forget there were female custodes.

In any case, I like the headcanon that whoever gets augmented stops being human as a whole, and sure as hell stops being male entirely due to how much their bodies are mutated and turned into biological monstrosities, but that's here nor there. I actually understand why would there be female custodes, and I like it.

A Journey to Love (OP)

I wanted to mention that since making this secret, I finished A Journey to Love, which is about two (formerly) rival heads of spy/assassin organizations who join forces to escort a princess (disguised as a prince) to an enemy kingdom in order to ransom her brother, the emperor. Liu Shishi plays the female assassin, and she's great - absolutely the worthy challenger to Liu Yuning's character. THIS cdrama has all the swordplay and equal fight scenes that I'd hoped to see in Who Rules the World. And better acting too, IMO.
