Isn't there also an implication they would become lab animals by multiple governments?

I dunno, if your freedom is on the line and you actively remember the witch hunts and persecution of minorities via racism/religion, I doubt any of them would have enough trust in governments to want to be out of the metaphorical closet.

Right? The government would have them at a black site for the rest of their lives. Likely murdering them over and over until they don't come back.

That is a lot easier to do if you are not a public figure, Edward Snowden proved that one.

And Julian Assange proves that being a public figure doesn't help. You can be locked inside a house until your brain turns to mush. Or look at China. They disappear famous celebrities all the time.

He didn't end up in a cell in Diego Garcia, which was plan A, back when things first broke though. Him being public enough to attract attention at least spared him that.

Yeah, they literally become lab rats.

A person would absolutely have to hide that they're immortal. I like the difference in this film, that there are a group of others and it's not just one loner immortal like Highlander or Jack Harkness.

I think it would be fine to share this with your descendants...maybe. But you never know if you'd be resented. I think it's likely that resentment would be there.

People feel sorry for immortal vampires as much as they fear them, if they can't go out in the daylight or are forced to kill to feed. The loss of your loved ones, too, though there are plenty of mortals whose loved ones die first and leave them widowed too.

Anyway, I'd take Old Guard immortality, particularly because we know it eventually, VERY eventually wears off so you won't survive the heat death of the universe or something mental like that. I'd just live different lives and stay under the radar, and have a sweet amount of compound interest and real estate so I could live very comfortably. I would probably fight crime sometimes, too.
