It does take a while for kids to move past the "I feel a certain way about something, so therefore everyone feels this way about it" phase, doesn't it? However, this is a particularly unfortunate bit of generalization, since it reinforces negative stereotypes and isn't representative of the majority of the group it's generalizing about.
