I'm aroace and I could have written this secret myself.

The worst part, for me, is that strong mutual sexual attraction is an absolute must for me with my ships.

I keep seeing people say, "Alastor can do and enjoy x/y/z and still be ace though," which is extremely true and valid. But the gremlin in my head needs them hot and bothered for each other. It just does.

Alastor can still be demi. So in that respect, it's possible to have an Alastor who is sexually attracted to Lucifer and still on the ace spectrum.

But to be honest, I'm kind of more interested in him having always been too much of a distrustful, Machiavellian control-freak to have any interest in sex/romance.

Plus, I kind of like the idea that the animosity between them was, in part, UST from the beginning. Not as though they never really hated each other—they definitely DO...but maybe some of why they hate each other so much, right out of the gate, is because neither of them knows how to deal with feelings of attraction in a way that is remotely well-adjusted or normal.

So yeah. Here I am, an ace/aro person, wishing there were more fics that just ignored the canon asexuality of one of only a tiny handful of ace characters in mainstream media. *facepalm*

As a fellow aroace person, I just want to say I'm in the same boat as you! Agreed 100%.

As an aside, I don't think that our enjoyment of things precludes us from fictive fantasy like anyone else. We don't need to be ambassadors in fandom.
