I didn't like Anna to start with (not really her fault - I thought 4x09 and even much moreso 4x10 were just AWFUL episodes), but she grew on me. In fact, I didn't realize how much she had grown on me until Castiel, who is like my favorite person ever, betrayed her and turned her in and I found myself furious with him for it. And now I'm really hoping to see her back. BUT I do slash Dean and Cas and so I did object a teensy bit to her use of the nickname only because I liked that it was something Dean had for Cas. It was like a little thing between them, like how Dean only gets to call Sam "Sammy." But then everyone started using it so I got over it.

Genevieve just does nothing for me. She's just so vanilla. I much preferred S3 Ruby. But S4 Ruby didn't have a whole lot to work with. Even though I'm not sure Gen could've turned in a better performance either way, I think the writers failed the character a bit because they were apparently dead-set on being as vague as possible with her (and, to a lesser extent, Sam) so we would be unsure of her motives. Which didn't work, IMO. I know very few people who were fooled by her. Very few. I did give a shit that she came between the boys and that she manipulated Sam and that she used the nickname reserved for Dean, but I think that's the point. I hated her for all of it and I love it. I love to hate her. And I so, so wish the writers had just let her be badass and bitchy the whole time the way she was in S3. I mean, I get that she was workin' Sam, but why did she have to warm up to Dean? I love bitchy!sassy!Ruby.

I don't think there's any such thing as a "bad fan," but according to the ZOMGIHATEWOMEN fans, there are and I guess I'm ok with being a bad fan then. Because I'm bummed that Ruby died just when she was finally cool and evil again. And I hate that Anna got turned in just when she was starting to actually, you know, DO something.

I thought Katie was the best actress for Ruby hands down, but I didn't like the badass thing going on. I love badass women. Ellen and Pamela were/are my fave ladies of the show. How they wrote Ruby, and how Katie portrayed her, came off as really diva barbie doll and it just annoyed me. I'd much rather see a more somber (even if she's a shitty actress) Ruby than one who is trying to be all whoop-ass.

Julie is also a terrible actress and Anna really doesn't have a purpose, or at least one that is worth bringing her back for (even though they do intend to bring her back), but I still like her character for her dynamic with Castiel. She has insight into his past and also she could be a good mentor for him alongside Dean.

I self-deluded myself about Ruby. I was so hopeful that they'd try something new and interesting with her, especially as they'd been pounding home the message all season about angels not being the good guys. I thought maybe they'd go the other way and say not all demons are bad guys. Or not kill off the female character again.

My disappointment was epic, but not unexpected.

This. I never thought Ruby wanted what was best for Sam, but I really liked it when I thought she had her own agenda, and to discover that she was just Lilith's flunky was very disappointing.

Painfully disappointing. There was so much potential with her that was squandered with a rather predictable plot line. It was a damn shame.
