I know how you feel. Some self-insert Sues are tolerable (I'm a big fan of one, actually, because the artist is nice AND talented), but the problem is a lot of them aren't, and the artists just draw that stuff as a means of serving their libidos. Even if she is nice, she sounds like a bit of a hypocrite--just try to ignore it. Sadly there's dozens more like her, so that's the best you can do.

Yes, had you kept drawing your skills probably would be better (especially if you were actively looking to improve them). That's part of learning is constantly practicing.

However don't feel bad for ditching Sailor Moon. Not to be mean but that style is not a great style to want to emulate drawing with. DBZ is a better style and even then a lot of people hate it because it's... DBZ.

Go back to drawing and draw something you love, be it SM fan art or something else. SM and DBZ were my original inspirations and I don't draw them much anymore, if at all.

I am upset about Tennant leaving just as I was about Eccleston. Nine was my Doctor and I adored him to pieces, I didn't know about the whole regeneration thing and so it was a surprise for me (I watched the entire first season in less then 48 hours and there wasn't much time to read about DW)

Then Tennant came along and I disliked him, took over my Doctor and then just laid there all episode. But then I saw New Earth and fell in love with him, now he is my favorite. For that reason alone I am going to give Eleven a chance, I mean sure I don't think he is as cute, but I didn't think CE was cute either. It's all in how they play the character. And I love SM and his writing. I was excited to hear he was taking it over.

My concern is more along the lines of so much is changing, new cast, new writers/behind scenes people, new TARDIS, new Sonic Screwdriver, probably new desktop theme. I worry it's to much change at once and will seem like an entirely different show. I also am worried some of my favorite characters may not return (Captain Jack) I read an interview with RTD where he said they were all his characters and don't expect to see them again. I am hoping because Jack was first in an episode SM wrote that he doesn't fall under that and I know Smith told Barrowman he would like to work with him. I am a little meh about River Song returning and possibly Jenny but am excited to see what new characters they will create so we don't have the same Rose and Martha drama in all the episodes though.

It can be hard to start up again once you've stopped for a while, but once you start practicing again, you'll get the hang of it. Talent doesn't go away; it just falls asleep for a while sometimes when you don't focus on maintaining it. Though I advise you to check out of the art of some other shoujo, if that's the style you like. Sailor Moon is pretty, but the style isn't easy to work with.

Obviously no one told you about Sei. That bitch kicks ass. Reika is also not completely useless. But, really, it's not that uncommon for female characters to not get much of the limelight. It's still an amazing series, so it sucks you won't be able finish it because of that.

Care to describe them? I am not OP, but I also dropped the manga - around the eleventh volume, I think, and I don't remember any good female characters in there. The girl in OP's picture - what's her name, Kei? - was an idiot and eventually got killed. Then there was this girl who agreed to fuck the main character five minutes after she met him and died the same day. And, on the same mission as her, there was a stereotypical stalker girl who wore her nightdress on the street, didn't say a word and was the reason the guy she liked died in the first place. I suppose she was meant to be a sympathetic character as she was revealed to be pretty and (a little) helpful later, but she was also a weakling and died. And right before I stopped reading, main character got himself a girlfriend, who was somewhat nice at first, but turned out to be a little weird in the head, since she continued dating the guy who, if I remember correctly, run from the class when his classmates were about to be slaughtered and actually watching them die had none impact on her whatsoever..

..I felt like I judged it a little too quickly (though it's no comparison to OP) after quiting Gantz, because some of my friends like it and whenever someone who reads seinen is asked for recommendations it's on their list, so I might give it another try if female characters do improve.
