I'm ashamed to admit that whenever I se pictures of Carrot-Top (I'm hoping that's who it is, and I won't offend anyone.. :¬{ I'm in the UK and afaik, he's pretty much unknown here), I feel my skin crawling. :¬( I'm almost too scared to ask, but - is there anyone who actually finds him attractive?

I must protest, sirrah - I bloody love that film!!

Oh, I agree that it doesn't make a blind bit of sense.

The Will/Jocelyn romance is godawful (as are Shannon Sossaman[?]'s costumes) and kills the movie stone dead, but for me it's just a load of bonkers fun and nonsense.

I just love it for the male characters - and it's one of the slashiest movies EVAH imo: Will/Wat, Will/Chaucer, Wat/Chaucer, Will/Roland, Roland/Wat, Roland/Chaucer...and that's even before you factor in Rufus Sewell and the Black Prince... *vbeg*

113. Don't be ashamed. If Hetalia gave you that final push, it's a good thing. I was thinking of visiting Italy one day especially since me and my sister want to go to Venice before it sinks (that's taking into consideration that there is no way to keep the waves from flooding the city). Hetalia added motivation for it, then Ristorante Paradiso gave the final push. So when I get a steady job, we'll start saving for a trip to Italy. I decided my fear o flying isn't worth it at the expense of seeing the world.

125. Wait, what? Gantz is an okay read but it's not DEEP. Someone trolled you, brah. Honestly I stop somewhere in the high 100s because I hated the sloooooooooooooow pace of the story.

Since apparently the only thing you care about your child seeing is gay people raising children, try http://www.buddyg.tv/home.php this.

Otherwise, it's not that hard to correct her. Brock and Doc aren't gay. There are gay characters on Venture Bros, plenty of them - Colonel Gentleman and Kiki, King Gorilla, Alchemist, Shore Leave and Mile High. Two men who live in the same house with kids doesn't make them 'two dads', and it doesn't make them gay. I'm all for gay characters, but when they're straight, THEY'RE STRAIGHT. Jesus.

Furthermore, I cannot fathom why your child is up that late, and if you're showing her the DVDs, there's even more wrong with you, because s3 is uncensored.

I don't know, I think Brock is kind of like a dad, even though I agree that he and Dr. Venture are not in a romantic/sexual relationship.

At the very least, Hank considers Brock more of a father figure than his own father. :/

I didn't like Anna to start with (not really her fault - I thought 4x09 and even much moreso 4x10 were just AWFUL episodes), but she grew on me. In fact, I didn't realize how much she had grown on me until Castiel, who is like my favorite person ever, betrayed her and turned her in and I found myself furious with him for it. And now I'm really hoping to see her back. BUT I do slash Dean and Cas and so I did object a teensy bit to her use of the nickname only because I liked that it was something Dean had for Cas. It was like a little thing between them, like how Dean only gets to call Sam "Sammy." But then everyone started using it so I got over it.

Genevieve just does nothing for me. She's just so vanilla. I much preferred S3 Ruby. But S4 Ruby didn't have a whole lot to work with. Even though I'm not sure Gen could've turned in a better performance either way, I think the writers failed the character a bit because they were apparently dead-set on being as vague as possible with her (and, to a lesser extent, Sam) so we would be unsure of her motives. Which didn't work, IMO. I know very few people who were fooled by her. Very few. I did give a shit that she came between the boys and that she manipulated Sam and that she used the nickname reserved for Dean, but I think that's the point. I hated her for all of it and I love it. I love to hate her. And I so, so wish the writers had just let her be badass and bitchy the whole time the way she was in S3. I mean, I get that she was workin' Sam, but why did she have to warm up to Dean? I love bitchy!sassy!Ruby.

I don't think there's any such thing as a "bad fan," but according to the ZOMGIHATEWOMEN fans, there are and I guess I'm ok with being a bad fan then. Because I'm bummed that Ruby died just when she was finally cool and evil again. And I hate that Anna got turned in just when she was starting to actually, you know, DO something.

Re: 120

[identity profile] ponysushi.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
I thought Katie was the best actress for Ruby hands down, but I didn't like the badass thing going on. I love badass women. Ellen and Pamela were/are my fave ladies of the show. How they wrote Ruby, and how Katie portrayed her, came off as really diva barbie doll and it just annoyed me. I'd much rather see a more somber (even if she's a shitty actress) Ruby than one who is trying to be all whoop-ass.

Julie is also a terrible actress and Anna really doesn't have a purpose, or at least one that is worth bringing her back for (even though they do intend to bring her back), but I still like her character for her dynamic with Castiel. She has insight into his past and also she could be a good mentor for him alongside Dean.

Wh.. wh... Where are the threads? I.. I.. I don't like change!

[identity profile] rabbitucker.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
General comments - Where are the threads? Where are all the secrets? Wh... Wh... What's going ON?!

(I'm scared...)

102 - As I recall, DeForest Kelly also did gangster movies. You know, there's a guy (http://www.sacurrent.com/film/story.asp?id=70345) who distributes copies of out-of-print films. Techically, it's against the law, but it's not like he's taking away income streams from anyone. With those films undistributed and all but lost to antiquity, he says he actually wants to work himself out of a job by compelling studios to distribute those things there are a demand for.

103 - You know, every now and then, there comes an obscure little film that makes you happy and touches you in ways that mainstream stuff doesn't. I found "Amelie" and "Persepolis" that way.

106 - I was unawaare as to the proliferation of red-headded Mary Sues. Perhaps we should extend the hunting season to help curb their population growth?

109 - So... What? Just because he's paying attention to someone new that's proof positive that he was crazy? I just think you're jealous.

118 - You know, sometimes I wish I had a wide-eyed protogee to train, someone whose horizons I could broaden, someone who I could expose to a world they've never known...

...and not in the "open your trenchcoat" way.

129 - You know, there's still a market out there for Sailor Moon fanart. I'm just sayin'.

102. Ah, DeForest Kelley! You know, before he was cursed by the Bags-Under-Eyes gods he was damned handsome, yes he was. (Way hotter than Karl Urban, in my opinion.)

116. Eyebrows aren't everything! Unless you're a Vulcan. Or maybe just Zachary Quinto.

Anyway, the Mona Lisa doesn't have eyebrows either, and she's done pretty well for herself. Matt Smith will be fine as the Doctor.

107. ....You are making me very uncomfortable.
Let me explain. There are very few people I'm actually interested in reading RPS of. He is one of them. I tell myself, "It's ONLY fic....it's only fiction, nothing 'real' about it...just text on the screen..." Then I see this. And it makes me feel bad and "invasive" all over again :/

109. I know how that is. I know all too well how that is.

113. Moving for a few months? I'm confused. So, you're just gonna be moving out soon after you get there?

115. Oh, wow. Sounds a bit obnoxious. Even more so if they are the kinds of characters who would have no interest in her if they were real.
Has she been doing this for long? I mean, do you think she'll get tired of it and stop soon enough?
Well, I understand, I'm sure a lot of fandomers have no someone like that at one point or another.

119. I found that movie in one of those used movie bins today. For some reason, I was actually somewhat tempted to get it. I have no idea why I've been wanting to watch it lately. O_o

Awww good for you! This secret makes me really happy.

And actually, I had a very similar experience, but with Danneel. lol I've always sort of questioned my sexuality but was too afraid to think about it. Because of Danneel, it became entirely impossible for me to deny that I was attracted to both men and women. I'm not quite ready to come out to my family, but I'm comfortable with myself and I embrace it, which is good enough for me right now.

So... you take Jensen, I'll take Danneel? LOL

You know something? I honestly think you're just a little troll sitting under your bridge trying to think up of something - anything - that would get a rise out of someone.

I've been playing with GI Joe's since I was a kid (I had my Dad's and it was one of the original ones) and I watched the cartoons and read just about anything I could get my hands on until I was a certain age (nope - not gonna tell) and I LOVED THE MOVIE!

Why? Because I'm one of those rare people who can divorce the original subject matter from the adaption. You can't make everyone happy so make the most people happy you can - and judging by the box office receipts a lot of people think the same way.

So get off of your little girl pretty pony, put on your big girl panties and deal with it! If you're willing to lose friends over something like this then you are the one that's not worth having as a friend.
