My biggest one is this: Torture. Doesn't. Work. We knew this hundreds of years ago, we know it now, we'll know it in the future. We'll ignore that we know it because torture working as an effective form of learning the truth is both emotionally satisfying and artistically/ethically interesting. But it's not effective! So it bothers me no matter the ambient level of violence in the media or the violence of the torture.

The weird bit is that if characters use torture and *think* it worked but actually their intel is flawed or contradictory the media doesn't bother me. The torture isn't real but the idea that it's effective could be, you know?
