Re: Question for people who like to read

I do read for fun and tend to go with whatever interests me, alongside the books that friends and my Dad might suggest to me (which have been lent to me and are currently at the top of my to-read pile).
I'm also a little spoiled for choice with finding books, because I volunteer at a library and sometimes read over summaries while shelving new or returned books.

With that being said, I do find that I get into pretty bad slumps after reading a book and will just not read anything for a while until I actively force myself to make the time to read. My main motivator recently has been books from the library, because I can only renew them so many times before I have to return them - so I sort of pressure myself into reading them 'before its too late'. Unfortunately this means that books I have borrowed from friends/family or that I have bought become less prioritized and have been prolonged from reading :s
Another way I get out from my reading slumps are comics/manga (another perk of library access lol). I seem to read through those without a problem and usually get prompted into reading books afterwards.

As for skimming, I think it just depends on the book. The only times that I've skimmed has either been books that I've been in a rush to return at the last minute, books that I couldn't 100% get into but were lent to me by people who want my opinion on it or books that had started off well enough - but became terrible/annoying to read near the end and I just wanted to finish it.
