I'm heading that way in early fall - if you've been or know the area, what are your top things to do? I like nature, and am a bit of an adrenaline junkie, but honestly I'm up for anything.

Go out to the island, and run around covered in catnip and barbecue sauce.

I went a couple years ago. The Museum of Anthropology was fantastic. As is the Granville Island Public Market to try different foods. We did Grouse Mountain because you could get there using public transport. There is a ton of stuff to do there. But if you have a car there are farther out places you can visit for nature stuff.

Thanks, the Museum of Anthropology sounds great! I'll have to check out Grouse Mountain, and yeah, we should have access to a car.

Oh, Canada, didn't realise that there was one in Washington or I'd have specified, sorry!

If you're going to Vancouver, Canada, Granville Island is a nice diversion. I rather liked the market out there.

Me, a Vancouverite, reading this thread and taking notes because I never do anything fun.

Granville Island is nice. I have a hard time thinking of it as a worthy destination because it just feels like a market to me? But it's a nice market; certainly larger and more scenic than average.

I've never done the Grouse Grind but I've been meaning too for like a decade. If you're up for some physical exercise it seems like it could be a good choice. There's also Capilano Suspension Bridge and the surrounding park, which I've also never been to but which seems to be popular.

If you want to shop, Robson Street and Pacific Center Mall are the major downtown shopping centers (and they're very close together so you could easily hit both). Metrotown Mall is the largest mall. And if the weather's nice then there's the outlet mall, McArthur Glen, but I don't recommend it if it's cold and/or raining because it's an outdoor mall.

If you're looking to have lunch downtown and you like Japanese food, one place I really like is Shabusen. They do an AYCE lunch, which is a little bit pricy, but fun. Here's a link to the menu if it sounds like something you'd enjoy:

Thanks! Hopefully we'll have good weather, the outlet mall sounds like it'd be good - we'll be on a budget, lol. Grouse Mountain was mentioned further up in the comments so I'll definitely take a look at it.
