No, look, this is the point of the character. No matter what the point in canon, Spiderman has to be on some level a self-sacrificial iron woobie. It is central to his identity and core conceit. He is always going to feel that everything is his responsibility and that he needs to sacrifice to protect everyone else.

I think there is a lot of stuff around the edges of that where he doesn't have to suffer. Having him in a happy marriage works fine for the character, even if he should feel angst about it sometimes. And I will always advocate for the high school science teacher era of the character.

But Peter Parker is always going to be an emotional mess on some level, he is never going to be well adjusted, and he is never going to take care of himself properly.

If he refuses to take care or himself, can't Mary Jane take care of him?

He's too much of a goody-goody to try use Mary Jane for that, the prude.

She can (and should) try, but there's always going to be some degree of tension with his innate and unshakable desire to be self-sacrificing.
