Unfortunately, it's politics as long as politicians make policies around it. It's not up to you to decide it's not. That's how we get people refusing to do anything to change because they just sit back and say politicians should be doing the right thing without our support or protests. "Uhmmm well Biden SHOULDN'T be supporting genocide to begin with whether or not I protest, so instead of doing that I'm just gonna sit out this election."

No, I think being poorly informed about government and elections in general contributes to that. You can believe politics shouldn't involve debates around basic human rights AND understand that not participating in elections can have severe consequences, especially for marginalized groups.
