But no one gets to decide where other people "just won't go" in their thoughts and discussions. And believe me, it's been tried and tried: there are a lot of laws that look blatantly unjust and absurd to us now, attempting to safeguard the authority of theocrats and monarchs by making it a crime punishable by death to question (and much less debate) it. This did not prevent their downfall.

The more any ideology is shielded from debate, the less robust it is at countering challenge, and the easier it gets to poke holes in it.
