She's seriously doing a really good job with all of distinct personas. And I don't even like the damn show. I think it's epically disappointing. But Eliza isn't one bit of why. At least she's worlds better than that chick playing Sierra, who has all the range of my ballpoint pen.

We don't even know IF the animals actually are mistreated. All we see is "those animals are we have to set them free even if we can't care for that many animals." True, that dog was in an awfully small cage but I'm having slight problems with accepting that that wasn't just an exaggeration for dramatic purposes. There are restrictions and laws for that kind of thing.
I am saying this from a German POV, I don't know how laws on animal testing are in the US but from where I'm standing Caroline is just being an obnoxious, self-righteous bitch who doesn't have a clue about pretty much anything (and her "I have to free all those dolls" plot in episode 8(?) just confirmed that).
Could be that the laws over there are entirely different and all lab animals are mistreated.

Because that's not all they do. Are you a vegetarian? Do you refuse to carry leather bags, wear leather jackets or shoes, drink milk or eat eggs or eat gelatin? The Humane Society of the United States (not to be confused with the Humane Societies that run dog and cat shelters) goes a bit overboard, too, but they accept that humans are omnivores and only ask for humane treatment of livestock (though people disagree on "humane").

Besides that, PETA is one of more needlessly degrading (http://www.peta.org/mc/Billboards_ads_images/whale_watch_BB.pdf) and sexist (http://www.clevelandleader.com/files/eva-mendes-peta-fur.jpg) groups out there. Where are the blubber-laden men? The naked peen?

I work in medical research. Come visit sometime after they've been here and they've let them all out to trample each other to death, because they don't care if they kill each other as long as they're "free" and they don't care how important the experiment actually is or whether or not the animals are actually being mistreated. Seriously, Institutional Review Boards are not a myth, nobody's torturing stray cats at a respectable university. What they ARE doing is looking for cures for HIV, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, CJD ("mad cow"--and there was an incident when animal rights loonies let prion-infected animals loose to contaminate the food chain even further) and other terrible diseases.

G-d, that show so pissed me off. I can't root for the company that owns the dolls because they're evil, but I actually think the world is better off with one less Echo in it.

I've only ever seen her in Dollhouse, so I guess I can't say for sure, but based on the evidence of that show? She's not a good actress. And I've come to expect fantabulous casting from Whedon, so she's been a vast disappointment to me.

She's actually an ok Actress, she really isn't that talented except when she's playing broken badass chicks...like Faith.
You can especially see just how unspecial she is when you compare her to other actors in the show, like Amy Acker, who is much better from what I've seen.(Maybe that's just because she's playing a side character though?)

I think the show would do better if Caroline got pulled back a bit and they showed more of the others so we don't have to see so much of Dushku.

Frankly I wish they'd established, early on (like episode two), a series where they focus on different Dolls every week. Like, we don't see Echo at all in episode two, and we focus on Sierra instead. Then episode three is about Victor. You would still have the Dollhouse, and Topher and Adelle, and Ballard, so there'd be those continuing plot threads, but the Dolls would switch around. That also means that when Echo was targeted and they wanted to but her on ice for a bit, they could have more easily focused on the others, since they'd been doing it that way all along.

I think most of her imprints are pretty nifty and that as an actress, she's doing a great job with all the different characters, but the fact that underneath it all she's Caroline makes me dislike her a bit. so. annoying.

So, shippability is all that makes a character interesting to you? For me, THAT'S incredibly boring.

I think Eliza does a good job with the varying imprints, as long as she's not being asked to go all split personality with them. That plot point failed spectacularly...or maybe it was just that Alan Tudyk did it so much better.

I also don't particularly care for Caroline, but I do like Echo. Go figure.
