I wonder about the rise in this kind of thinking correlating with the rise of the internet age and people chronically online. Like their life is just full of online fiction (tiktok, influencers, youtubers, etc etc) so they really dont see a difference between fiction and reality.

Or if people are just dumb.

Corporations have been telling people for years that their consumer choices are a reflection of their morals. No wonder people have started including their media as well.

The real problem isn’t who you assume is more dangerous, but who you assume is less dangerous. There have been antishippers who positioned themselves as “trusted adults” so they could exploit minors.

I mean, halfhardtorock was notorious for both, and has now reframed herself as as anti and a "fandom mom" so...

But yeah, 99% of the time the person to watch out for is the one who encourages kids/teens to trust them and confide in them and that other people are dangerous, not the person who writes fic and labels it appropriately.
