I wonder about the rise in this kind of thinking correlating with the rise of the internet age and people chronically online. Like their life is just full of online fiction (tiktok, influencers, youtubers, etc etc) so they really dont see a difference between fiction and reality.

Or if people are just dumb.

Corporations have been telling people for years that their consumer choices are a reflection of their morals. No wonder people have started including their media as well.
