I think the same of the people obsessed with her.

(Anonymous) 2024-05-31 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Like her fans who go on about how brave she is and how much they love her? Yeah, I agree.

(Anonymous) 2024-05-31 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Those, and the haters that can't seem to let it go and move on with their lives.

I think anyone who obsesses over people for such long periods of time, being with hate or love, have something wrong with them. Normal healthy people don't do that.

Hard agree. I was one of those people on the "hate" side. Even if they're doing harm or deserve it, it's just self-destructive in the end.

People don't need head injuries to suddenly become bigoted, sadly

if they did there'd be a LOT more people with head injuries

You know, I read this column in the Times where this guy at a feminist event needed to pee. There were no men's rooms, only gender neutral ones. He went to one of these restrooms, and decided to use the urinal, because there was a long line to the stalls. Well, he could sense that this made other people in the bathroom uneasy. In so many words, he asked if he'd fucked up -- and the columnist said that yes, he had fucked up. In his selfishness, he had exposed himself to all of the women present (and possibly some little girls, too).

I thought to myself, "huh. If he'd just said that he identified as a woman, he'd have been in the clear." Wouldn't matter whether he actually felt himself to be a woman; all he'd have to do is to tell people that he was one, and suddenly, he'd no longer have been exposing himself. He'd just be...using the restroom.

See, case in point - you've probably never been kicked in the head by a horse but you still manage to come up with this shit.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! This was good, thanks for the laugh. XD

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Are you denying that people treat penis differently if the person who owns it declares that they're a woman?

Hell, I have been kicked in the head by a horse and even I think both the anon above you and Rowling herself are full of shit.

No, the columnist was wrong, he didn't fuck up. It was a gender neutral bathroom, that means when you go in you have to know you might see some dicks out peeing. He was fully in his right to use the urinal.

But this is all bullshit you made up so it doesn't really matter either way.

F!S is filled with the cowardly and the intellectually dishonest. They will never, ever genuinely engage with this issue; they will always and only resort to lame internet "dunks."

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
What's to engage with?

That's some highly selective reading you've been doing if you've never seen the essays people write in the comments every time there's a JKR secret to debunk transphobic myths.

But of course you haven't seen them, because you ignore what you've already made up your mind to disagree with.

Sure, Jan.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's a great example of the batshittery Rowling would come up with to justify her transphobia. Good job.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well, he could sense that this made other people in the bathroom uneasy.

Ah yes, the extremely well-documented ability of average humans to read the minds of other folk around them.

It's not selfish to use the facilities available to one's self. Nor is it actually a problem for anyone of any age to see a naked body part! The problem is people spinning these elaborate won't-someone-think-of-the-children tales to justify their bigotry, instead of them doing any self-examination with THEIR discomfort.

Without engaging with the rest of the secret, I feel the need to point out that the image used for this secret is MRI, not CT.

However, MRI might be what you meant anyway. Both scans have their advantages and disadvantages, but MRI tends to yield more information relevant to brain function, though atrophy and tumors can also be seen in CT scans.

If someone says "so and so hates a minority" I go and see for myself. Most of the time, I agree with what fandom is claiming, but once in a while, there is zero proof of it. Which is exactly what happened with JK.

If there's any evidence that she hates trans people, that might change things for me. But the argument over whether people's souls can have a gender - those are belief claims. You can't threaten someone with jail time in a pluralistic society for not parroting a certain set of beliefs in public, and yet, that's exactly what the Scottish government was toying with. Which seems a lot more damaging to a free society.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
Bollocks.

If you think there's no evidence of Rowling hating trans people, it's because you're a fucking liar or you're just choosing not to acknowledge it.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
If there were any, someone would have been able to show it by now, as opposed to accusing anyone who says what I just said of miscellaneous offenses against humanity.

Instead, we've got a play written and acted by a transwoman, who promises to tell the world what JK Rowling means but never says. By pretending to be JK Rowling. Called TERF C*NT.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see how 'I refuse to go along with your delusions, especially when it negatively impacts upon me and/or those like me' is hatred, but go off.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-01 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I tend not to like takes like this.

I understand Rowling is a terrible person but to suggest it's due to a mental illness or being physically ill feeds into ableism.

Maybe she's just a terrible person with terrible opinions surrounded by other like-minded bigots and overprivileged people.

Some people are just that selfish that they refuse to believe that they can be wrong or doing terrible things.

I honestly feel like Rowling is simply an egotistical rich person, therefore she believes she can't possibly be a bad person. Anyone who disagrees with her exists to try to bring her down so she can continue to believe she is the loveable underdog.
