"I kind of enjoyed it. But also, the pacing, narrative concepts, and plot-development and execution were wobbly and quarter-baked to a degree where it was kind of baffling that it somehow still sort of held together."

These are my gripes with it too. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, but it felt really rushed (even 13 episodes would be better than 8) and when revisiting the end I wondered what's the point of making going to Heaven the goal, when it's not any better than Hell... I'm hoping Season 2 will explain the latter issues, but if it's going to be the same length, I'm not holding my breath.
