Agreed.

Fandom likes to make fun of the self-insert, but it's a totally valid take. A lot of the time I think people start out (RPing or just writing) with self insert and then as they grow with the artform and get more comfortable it's easier to create characters with bigger differences and don't exactly reflect you.
