I just bought a new sleeping pad for camping. Did I need to go all the way up the price chain to the Nemo Tensor? No. Am I unreasonably happy that I did? You betcha!

OMG this is exactly the same thing I last splurged on! I was actually a bit bummed about it when it first showed up because I have an Exped that’s bigger and has a better inflation sack. But the Exoed is also bigger so the Tensor is a huge upgrade for distance. I had it out last week and I LOVE IT! It’s my new favorite! I’m so happy for you, you deserve to sleep well out there and now you can.

It has so many amazing reviews! I got it when REI was having their sale last week. I have yet to take it out camping, but I tried it out at home and I really think it's going to up my comfort. I've been using the closed cell foam (just those simple ones that fold up) for years with no problem but the last two times I went backpacking my sleep was awful, so I figured it was time for an upgrade. I'm so glad you like it too!

My next camping gear splurge I have my eye on is a sleeping quilt. I've never tried one but I am so intrigued.

AYRT My husband got me a sleeping quilt in preparation for the trip last week. It’s a Katabatic Flex 30° and I really, really like it! But I already had experience with down camping quilts so knew what to expect. I have a quilt from Get Out Gear via Amazon that we bought for my older dog (the younger, smaller one had a proper dog sleeping bag) and I can’t remember why I chose to use it one time but I fell in love. It’s actually my favorite sleeping bag/blanket/quilt, but it can’t handle below about 50° which is why husband got me the Katabatic.

I’m too big to zip the Katabatic around me but it works wonderfully just tucking the ends under me. And on a dangerously cold, wet night when my dog’s sleeping bag wasn’t warm enough, we huddled together under my quilt and both stayed warm all night. On future treks I’m going to leave his sleeping bag at home and spare myself the extra carry weight.

Sorry to ramble endlessly. I actually made a DW account before going and keep meaning to out myself here and share some posts. I really need to get around to that this week!

A 30ml bottle of From The Garden perfume by Replica. It's so deliciously green and fresh! I am obsessed with the tomato-leaf note. OB-SESSED.

I don't even try to justify my fragrance-related splurges to myself anymore. I collect fragrances. I've collected them for years. It's not a sensible thing to spend bunches of money on, but collecting rarely is sensible.

omg I've been wanting to try that for ages. I am not a perfume/scent person, but that fresh tomato-leaf note got my attention.

Yes! It's such a distinctive scent! The tomato leaf note is fairly prominent in From The Garden; it's very green. There's a citrus-sweetness from the mandarin note, and a slight fresh-rose floral aspect from the geranium, and I think those notes give the fragrance just enough feminine-leaning prettiness to make it commercially viable for the brand. But overall it's still a more naturalistic and unisex scent than most designer fragrances. If that sounds like your speed, then there's a good chance you'll like this one. :)

Now, if you get into store and smell From The Garden and you think, "This is on the right track, but it's still too sweet and pretty; I want something like this, but even less sweet and more unisex," then I recommend trying Eau De Campagne by Sisley. (It's comparably priced, though depending on where you live you may have a tough time finding somewhere to try it in store.)

If you ever have any fragrance questions you can come here and ask and I'll do my best to answer if I'm around. Though of course scent is hella subjective so always take another person's descriptions with a hefty pinch of salt. :)

A 30lb weighted heating pad. Bought it from Costco so I can return it if it dies.

I've never used a weighted one. But I love my extra large heating pad. It is the best thing when I have a sinus headache. Just wrap it around my head.

I bought a sewing machine a month or so ago, and it is bring me some joy right now. I made a chair cushion and a hot water bottle cover so far and they turned out quite nicely. The ultimate goal is to make my own clothes that fit me well but for now I am just getting to know the machine making household stuff.
