Yeah, I also dislike the whole number and I do usuay prefer quirky ones - I mean, I did enjoy Croatia. But I don't think that it would have won though.

Honestly I really loved it and love it still. During Eurovision it was my favorite. But I'm still happy it was disqualified.

It didn't stand any chance at winning, and even if it did, I'd still be glad it was disqualified because I was rooting for Croatia. If it helps ease your concerns OP, someone on the Eurovision subreddit did the math and investigated the officially published jury numbers and calculated from the gaps that Joost would've gotten 58 points from the jury. Nowhere near enough to win the thing given Nemo's deserved amount of 12 points, even if Joost had gotten a lot of the popular vote.

Given both Croatia and the Netherlands in the final, Joost would've assuredly leeched at least a bit of the popular vote from Croatia, and then Croatia might not have won the popular vote. My biggest disappointment this year was that Croatia didn't win, since it was an absolutely perfect banger and IIRC they haven't won it before.

I just hope if EBU has decided they are ready to DQ entries, that they will do the same to every entry in the future, instead of turning a blind eye to the horrible behavior of Sweden and even moreso Israel's 2022 Eurovision entry, what with the literally slapping reporters and forcing kisses onto people who didn't want them.

Yup I am pretty sure that a lot of Croatia's points would go to Netherlands, they have similar enough audience. And then we would have got those-who- shouldn't-be-named even higher. Soooo. Also Joost is pretty loved now, so I would take it as a win. Even though I am angry about the whole thing.

I am glad that Croatia didn't win, I think second place is the best thing you can get at Eurovision: you are universally loved and have a career boost and your country doesn't need to deal with the whole circus. Win-win. (And also I adore Nemo's Song)

Yeah, I read that Croatia's entry wrote and choreographed the song and designed the outfits all on his own in a month while he was unemployed, so him still beating other entries who had whole teams to write their songs, as well as Eden who had her government spent more than a million euros on campaigning for her must feel good for Marko lol.

And that's a good point, if next year's Eurovision will be as much of a shitshow, then Croatia will probably join Finland in being very relieved in hindsight that they ended up #2 and dodging host responsibilities.

Finland was absolutely the main winner this year. Dealing with all this shit and not even getting tourist money? That sucks
