"Would it be possible for you to link to secrets marked as spoilers (like the way you do for porn secrets), instead of just labelling them as spoilers right above the image? By the time you see the label, you've already seen the image and then it's too late. :("

[Poll #1444305]

Suggested:
- increase space between spoiler warning and secret
- move all spoilery secrets to the end of the post
- make spoiler warning text more noticeable (big and red?)

I agree with the non-linking. For me I like the convenience of scrolling I always just skip any secret that is linked anyway so idk. But again there is the general warning and the text warning so it feels like, as someone said, so much hand-holding.

Plus then I feel like people who don't say something is a spoiler will get bitched out in comments for ruining a spoiler. Where we having everything could potentially be a spoiler atm I feel like most people just accept the premise, trying to specify may end up complicating things.

I love that idea for making the [SPOILER] bigger/redder/something...er.

[identity profile] fenm.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I... fourth? this. I've always considered the above-cut warning good enough, and I know I'm taking my chances when I read posts here. I've actually been spoiled once or twice, but I figure, if I don't like it, hey, no one's forcing me to be here. It's worth it to me to risk it.

My eyes tend to glaze over the current spoiler tag so I have the feeling something more obvious would probably do the trick just fine for most people.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you can open up the linked secret in a new tab. That's what I do.

Actually, on that first part, it'd be easier since making them a link is just... not putting the image tag around the pic's url. :P

Something else?

[identity profile] irishlullaby.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Put all the spoiler related ones at the end of the post and between the regular and spoilery ones put in LARGE letters "THE REST OF THESE CONTAIN SPOILERS" or something similar?

Oy vey, if you go through with this, I can see the only secrets that you would be able to show without any spoilage would the "I ship it" and "I'd hit it" secrets. Whole pages of nothing showing but that, day after day.

Ugh.

[identity profile] super-robyn.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I always just open links in a new tab/window. Saves the reload.

This.

I like this

[identity profile] fenm.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno... my scroll bar gets enough of a work-out in this comm; making the posts even longer (physically) seems like a bad idea. I'd go for links before increasing the space like that.

Keep warning text

[identity profile] deansdemongirl.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
My feeling is if someone is that interested in fandom secrets and has been made aware in general when they decided to watch the community that there might be spoiler in then they really should be up to them as well to take a measure of their own responsibility and to make their own decisions about how much risk they want to take of seeing them.

(Anonymous) 2009-08-15 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
If they start being linked, I'm going to have to start submitting major spoiler secrets without labeling them as spoilers, just to hit the whiners over the head.

[identity profile] masked-creator.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Meh, I think you're kind of asking to be spoiled by coming HERE on a regular basis. I think the text warnings are fine. People can always write SPOILER on the top of the secret too. As someone said, if one scrolls down too fast, well, you can't really help that.

This has my vote.

People would see them while scrolling through the ns/nf/tb though. And people would whine about the extra scrolling.

I would actually find this really annoying. It doesn't say for what series, and you might be completely caught up on one thing, while behind on another. There would be no way to tell what you were getting into if you wanted to look at the secrets.

[identity profile] leinyan.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
even if you link the secrets that were clearly marked as having spoilers you can be sure that some person will get spoiled by an unmarked secret anyway, so I don't really see how that can be fixed - you already get warned above the cut.

like a few others have said, posting them at the end seems fair, although some idiot would still complain about being spoiled for something :/

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a huge spoilerphobe, but I come into fandomsecrets knowing there could be spoilers. I like the idea of perhaps enhancing the text, but, migod, if you try to link the pictures to everything that's a spoiler, there will be no pictures left, since some people consider just about everything to be a spoiler. And if you try to bend over backwards to spare people spoilers, you're going to get overrun with arguments about what constitutes a spoiler, and complaints, and, just, oh, don't go that route. I like that fandomsecrets warns everyone comin' in that HERE BE SPOILERS AND PORN and for the most part leaves it at that.

[identity profile] lottery-vee.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure how much more work it'd be but I like this idea.

[identity profile] dbzmerciter2005.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm all for linking or increasing the space.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe some people would and I would hardly blame them for wanting to. It's just too much.

[identity profile] atom-bunny.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes - this.

Besides, what one person may not consider a spoiler, someone else definitely will.

I've seen people consider the most inane things to be spoilers. So where do you draw the line?

[identity profile] atom-bunny.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
This seems to be a pretty good idea. ^_^
