I once had a friend who gave gifts she wanted to get. Not gifts like, "Oh, I saw this and thought of you!" Legit things she personally wanted (because if she wanted it, everyone did?), regardless of who the giftee was.

Mel Brooks is honestly hot and miss with me. His humor is kind of corny and Vaudevillian. I like Spaceballs and Blazing Saddles though.

I think I was just the exact right age/stage when I saw this. I loved Cary Elwes and I love Robin Hood and the humor hit me just right.

If I watched it for the first tike today I would orobably find it dumb and/or boring.

What are your favorite documentaries? If you don't watch those, what are your favorite non-fiction books?

I get this. I don’t rec shows I like very often because I know some of my friends won’t like the genre and I never assume that because I like something they will. I get wanting to gush with someone but I’ve got a friend I do that with even if she doesn’t care for the shows I’m watching, it’s really nice and we mutually will do this for one another. Sometimes she asks if she’d like a show I’m into and I either tell her she might but it’s X-genre or no because it’s a genre I know she won’t care for.

Thinking of other people is surprisingly a difficult thing for some people to do.

This is such a common problem but it's still so odd. Like there are legit people out there who are unable to (or uninterested/unwilling) to look outside themselves and consider someone else's POV even when they're trying to do something nice for that person. It's a weird aspect of narcissism.

It's been ages since I saw this movie, but I like Mel Brooks in general. He's not for everyone, though. Do you like any of his other stuff, OP?
