I mean, for the time it was pretty wacky that he dressed as a woman to evade detection. If not for the bombshell final 15 seconds I think that's what most people would latch on to.

And I heard that allegedly the confession was created in post or something, so *shrug*.

I got into true crime-y stuff in the early 2010s, mostly because I was so sucked into "Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills" and (at that point) the 2 docs that followed up on the case.

I feel like I was naive to assume most true crime stuff would be at the caliber of Berlinger and Sinofsky.

I really wanted to get into "The Jinx" based off people's intense discussions and recommendations, but couldn't get past the first 30-ish minutes of the first episode.

Paradise Lost was a good doc. But yeah, I know exactly what you mean. The Jinx got attention because of the confession and the case is a little kooky, but as a documentary it's solidly meh.

For me it was The Staircase and Thin Blue Line. Both overhyped boring true crime docs.
