I often wonder about the psychology of trolls. Like theres gotta be something fundamentally wrong with people who do stuff like this. Lack of empathy, creativity, no social skills, something.

Sadism. So that is why you should just ignore them. You can't reason with someone who wants to hurt people. I guess you can only hope they only express that sadism online.

Personally, I've done it because I have a bad tendency to externalize my own pain. I don't want to hurt others, and have generally felt bad about trolling after the fact. But in the moment, my pain has severely clouded my judgment.
