If I don't poke the update, Case'll spin it out to three or four am. If I do poke the update, they can at least beat midnight by a few seconds.

Time zones are a thing. Why should Case have to set it based on just your time zone? He's amazing for running this place, and whatever works for him is fine.

It is a reasonable time for me, pretty sure im in the same timezone as Case. Newsflash, the world has time zones and also does not revolve around you. We are lucky this comm still exists at all, don't go poking things that don't need poking.

There is literally no time that will be reasonable for all people on earth. That's impossible. The current time is a reasonable time for all English-speaking countries and this is an English language comm.

That is shifting the goalposts from the argument you made:

It suits US/CAN *best* but updating around midnight UK/IRE and morning AUS/NZ is at least semi-doable for all three regions. Move it earlier, it's the middle of the night AUS/NZ; move it later, and it's the middle of the night in UK/IRE.

Okay. But let's say that the current time is reasonable for the majority of people who post in this comm, whereas the time that's best for you is terrible for them. So, Case starts updating at your preferred time -- and there's hardly anyone else here. In fact, there's next to no interaction until the other users pop in...which just so happens to be the time that you dislike.

What's your plan to force all of the users of this comm to show up at times unfavorable to them in order to accommodate you?

You are defining early and late based on your timezone, those aren't the same for everyone. ALso, Case has a full time job. He posts when he is able.

Jup. Same here.
When I'm lucky it's midnight (where I'm too tired to comment), when I'm unlucky it's like 3am (when I'm asleep) and almost every discussion is over when I check in the morning. I've commented too late so often, I've stopped doing it for the most part.

(This is not a knock against Case... just, timezones being sucky)

I sometimes check too early when it has just been posted and there is no conversation, so I have been checking in the next day. It is def not busy but I've noticed there are a handful of people still posting and replying throughout the time until the new post goes up.

Checking FS is part of my morning routine and I feel like the discussions are still ongoing then. At least I tend to still get replies. FS usually updates around 2am - 3am for me.
