To be fair, Tobias was also stuck in that form; hated that he was stuck in it; and couldn't be with his love interest because of it (who, of course, also wound up dying).

Man, I loved how dark the Animorphs was. I need whatever the adult equivalent of that series was.

Just be better written, I guess. I loved Animorphs and owned every book in the series at one point but I just can't reread it. I tried a couple times.

This though. The concepts in Animorphs are so fucking legit, but the writing on a basic scene-by-scene level? Oof, nope, you gotta be a kid to overlook it.
