That's the assumed default, I think, which is why we don't ever really see a story focus on it. Same with other basic life tasks like laundry or cleaning unless someone is exceptionally bad or exceptionally good, it's just something they do that doesn't come up

nayrt - Yeah, agreed. A lot of the time, stories just assume that people are eating/feeding themselves without going into a lot of detail unless it becomes a significant plot point or character trait. Kind of like going to the bathroom, you just assume characters are doing it even if it's not mentioned.
