I've never understood the song, even as a teen. Is a woman warning a man that another woman just wants a one night stand? Aren't most men okay with one night stands?

A surprising number of men do not just want a one night stand, and are easily fooled into thinking a woman is into them when she's not.

Lmao I was about five/six when this song came out and that's exactly how I took it until I got a bit older and had a moment of realisation.

My mom mishear this song as 'all that she wants is another baby, she's gone to borrow one' for *years*.

I thought she wanted a new Romantic Partner but apparently Ace of Base were Neo Nazis so it was probably about an imagined welfare fraudster or something.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-23 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, that's still how I see it.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-23 03:13 am (UTC)(link)

How A Pop Band Tricked 9 Million Americans Into Being Nazis by Adam Tod Brown (cracked.com) makes a pretty good case.

How A Pop Band Tricked 9 Million Americans Into Being Nazis by Adam Tod Brown (cracked.com) makes a pretty good case. It's an interesting read.

And to save you some paniced googling, the Ben Shapiro mentioned isn't *that* Ben Shapiro. There's another Ben Shaprio who writes about music and stuff.

All I know is that the political one has apparently never made his wife wet.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-23 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
No. One member was a skinhead when he was a teenager. That's... about it.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-23 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
A) wrong
B) weird time to defend Ace of Base

(You can enjoy the music, thought crimes aren't real, but there were some real shitty people involved.)

(Anonymous) 2024-06-24 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
Their music always was trash but the point still stands, just because one member was a Nazi in his youth doesn't mean the whole band was a Nazi band.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-23 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
I read a few articles after reading this comment and the flimsy non-excuses means I don't want to listen to anymore Ace of Base. Even saying the band name feels gross.

(Anonymous) 2024-06-25 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
...were you listening to a lot of Ace of Base before now? Are they on heavy rotation on the top 40?

(Anonymous) 2024-06-23 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
That is what I thought!
