I'm going to hold your hand while I say this, but unless otherwise stated, a character played by a cis actor is going to be a cis character.

Balderdash.

You may not like it but being cis (and het) is the standard human experience for most people.

So this would imply that you have to tag for a character being gay when that's not explicitly stated in the source text. Is that something you think?

Yes. And there are a couple ways to do that. If the fic has a Male/Male pairing, that character is going to be portrayed a gay (or bi). Or, if for some reason the character is gay but not in a relationship, it is likely tagged or in the summary.

Well, at least you're internally consistent, even if I think it's ludicrous to say that you have to tag for a character being gay.

Why wouldn't you??? It helps people who want to read fics with that character being gay find you. And for people that want to avoid reading that kind of fic (for whatever reason they may have), they can.

Yes, you should tag for gay. And people do.
Also people tag for het if it's the main point

The pairing is the tag, you used coffee filter.

Lol! Thank you for this.

I sincerely can't tell if AYRT is trolling or really is just this determinedly obtuse.
